A Sprinkle of Updates

It's amazing how slowly news seems to develop after a couple big trips are finished... But I'm glad to report:

I've been continuing my training on the bike, and rode 68 miles to and from work last week. I think I may actually be ready for Ragbrai in time.

Today I ended my feverish pace with the Harry Potter series. It was charming from the first chapter of course, but especially engrossing through the last couple books. I am heartbroken about my stopping point, in more ways than one. I hope that the next book comes out soon, not only because I'm curious about the story, but also because I am looking forward to re-reading the entire series already.

Last night I had the good fortune to attend a Colorado Rockies baseball game. Apparently these things go on all the time, right down the street! Dave and I joined our friends Chad and Stacey, who graciously provided us with box seats through their company. We had great food before and after the game, and enjoyed a bonus activity of watching a rain delay from our cushy covered seats. It was marvelous fun.

And to make life even cushier, I just received a new bedspread and shams from the Pottery Barn summer sale catalog. I am completely in love, and although I hardly needed another excuse to lounge in bed longer, I have one.

Get ready for more photos -- I'll be making the leap to digital camera before Ragbrai. And speaking of pictures, you can click here to see Amy and Bill's fantastic European vacation, and here to see my brother's new house...

Old News

You know, there's something to be said for showing up at the party when everyone is heading home. I'm enjoying two great things that the world has already discovered, but it's nice to miss out on all the suspense everyone else had to suffer through.

I've been watching Sex and the City on dvd. For some reason these women bugged me when the show was actually on, but now that the whole thing is over (not to mention I don't have HBO anymore), it's been a real pleasure to watch. And what great timing for me that there are zillions of episodes readily available! I don't even have to wait a day to find out what tragic decision Carrie will make for herself this time, just pop some popcorn and see you on the couch Aidan.

I've also started the Harry Potter series, thanks to Sunday, Sandra and Amanda. I held off as long as I could knowing the terrible state my friends are in, awaiting for the final installment which has not even been scheduled for release yet. Alas I've been having kind of a boring book year so far, so I gave it a shot. I'm now halfway through a mindboggling 3,300 available pages of Potter fodder, and am contentedly blowing off everything else on my shelf. I guess it was only a matter of time before the masses proved themselves right once again!
