Let Me In

I celebrated Halloween this year by watching a scary ass movie. My all-time favorite is 1408, followed closely by The Ring. But this was a movie to be reckoned with!

One of the reviews said that if you don't like your vampires to sparkle, Let Me In is for you, that about sums it up. It almost makes me laugh how effective it was -- I know what's behind the door, and that character doesn't, and I know he's going in there, and there's a full minute of build-up, and I'm almost laughing at the suspense because I know that somehow they'll make me jump out of my seat. How do they do that??

Here's the trailer. Yikes!

So if you like scary movies, track this one down. I was amazed that on Halloween it was only showing in one theater in town, the only vampire movie out, and a well reviewed movie at that. When I bought my ticket I asked how the availability was on seats, and the guy said there was 98% of the theater left. I guess everyone is at Jackass 2.

Banksy Does Simpsons

The alert reader might remember me mentioning a documentary earlier this year called Exit Through The Gift Shop, more or less about an underground graffiti artist named Banksy. My dear friend Sunday told me that The Simpsons recently commissioned him to do an intro to their show, and the results are pretty interesting, if a bit dark. Worth watching - view video here, and commentary here.

Weekend Fun

This weekend we went to Jump Street, here's a video that sums it up. I think I'm going to buy stock, it was a riot. The video was taken an hour and a half after we arrived!

And a cute pic from the park too.

Threadless

In the process of working on a website, I've been surfing all over the place, both to find the tools I need, and some examples worth considering. Today I came across a website I LOVE, just for the sheer entertainment value, called Threadless (t-shirts). They've done such a great job it makes me want to buy a t-shirt just to be a fan. Don't miss this video, it's, uh, quite riveting.

Trip to Wisconsin

Last weekend I got to go on a quick trip to Chicago and Wisconsin, here are a couple of my favorite pics! I got to go to the University of Wisconsin football game, which is quite an event. I was completely fascinated watching the student section. They are very organized -- an organism that moves together as one. I've found a couple mediocre videos, here and here, to show the crazy Jump Around and the wave. Wisconsin does five waves - regular, then slow motion, then fast, then backwards, then split in two directions. What the heck?? Someone told me they've seen a wave that goes from the lower stands to upper and back again. How is this possible? Great fun to watch. I think some football was also played.

Lorina and Kyle

I had the opportunity to take some engagement pictures for Lorina and Kyle last weekend, and we had so much fun! I couldn't believe Lorina's good eye in choosing a randomly placed bridge in the tech center, which turned out to be a beautiful park...

History Of Rap

Do I sound like I'm 13 or 80 years old when I say that Justin Timberlake is amazing? He is in the new movie Social Network, which I think is fantastic, and restores my faith in movies all over again. He is a regular on Saturday Night Live, one of my favorite shows, and if you haven't seen the sketches for Single Ladies, or Omletteville, or Dick in a Box, you're missing out. This is one of my lesser known favorites, An Immigrant's Tale.

So last week Timberlake was on Jimmy Fallon, I happened to notice it on my dvr and set it up to record. I'm glad I did, the two of them did a HISTORY OF RAP that is a riot, I'm telling you a must see!!

Oh To Be Two Again...

This little flurry of fun was about a half hour before bedtime. I have to say my favorite part was Ada's little prancing around, in both the first video (gradually increasing energy) and the second video (shorter, and more mania for your buck).

I usually make Ada wear pants, for the record.
