Free Stuff

I'm sure I've written about this before, but wanted to remind you that freecycle.org and the "free" page of Craigslist are -- amazing. Over the last couple days I posted some cardboard boxes and a tv antenna that I didn't need anymore, and I probably got a dozen inquiries on both before the first person could pick them up!

My first experience with this was a couple old rolls of carpet, and I was amazed to have the same experience, someone came running for them.

If you have something that seems a pity to throw away, give it away - I guarantee someone out there wants it.

Atticus

In preparation for the new baby, my brother and sis asked me to help with a little project on my trip to Kansas City. Instead of having wood block letters for his name in the nursery, they wanted something a little more personal, so they picked out several favorite places around town with the letters a-t-t-i-c-u-s in the signs. They seemed to assume I have some kind of magical powers over a camera, so I dutifully popped out of the car, and snapped shots anywhere from their Mexican restaurant around the corner, to Arrowhead Stadium. Note to self - buy a zoom lens!

It was a great day, a guided tour of their favorite spots, and a little Photoshop brush-up for me too. It's almost time, Atticus!

Swim Lessons

The kids have been taking swim lessons for the last three months. At first they didn't seem to get much out of it, but now they are happily jumping in from the side, blowing bubbles, crawling in the shallow water, scooping hands and kicking feet -- and Ada's favorite, the bunny hops. Logan shouts "Pop! Pop! Pop!" as he hops.

We're going to take a break from structured lessons, and just swim when the pool is open, now that we have some things to work on. But hopefully they will be hanging out with teacher Peri again soon!
