Digital Shorts

I'm sure you've figured out what a big fan I am of Saturday Night Live digital shorts.  They just aired a couple great ones, including their 100th.  If you have ever seen one of these, it probably makes an appearance in this retrospective, and a few great cameos too.  (Disclaimer: These are very juvenile, so you probably shouldn't watch it.)

They also just released Lazy Sunday 2, which revisits one of the earliest and most successful shorts they've ever done.  Haven't lost the touch.  (Disclaimer: Also very silly.)

Jim Gaffigan Rules

As you might know, I love comedy shows more than music shows - but you have to do your homework.  Maybe it makes me sound prissy, but I don't like comedians that are dirty or juvenile as their entire schtick, I just don't find it funny.  Jim Gaffigan is one of my favs.  I was delighted to go to his website recently and find that he's offering an entire 75 minute show, downloadable in whatever format you like - for 5 bucks.  And a buck from each sale is donated to charity.  I love it!  If you're willing to take a gamble with less money than a pay per view movie costs, I hope you try it.

Memorial Day Thought: Drift

I don’t always write about the books I read, maybe not often enough…  But hopefully that lends some weight when I decide to.  I just finished Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power, by Rachel Maddow, and I want you to look it up, consider reading it.  This is a smart book, on an important subject, written by a woman of formidable intelligence and wit.  The book is about our military, how it is designed to work, how it used to work, how we have drifted away from these founding principles, and how we can fix it.  It was her recent interview on The Daily Show that caught my attention, so just do me a favor and watch that.

Happy Fourth Birthday A&L!

Ada and Logan's birthday was Friday!  I was so excited to give them their presents (the easel, Rapunzel dress and Spiderman bedding), and take them out for dinner and Jump Street.  We had a great time.

Early Morning Routine... Stinks

I love this pic of Logan asking for one more minute...

Trip to the Zoo

I've kept up our membership to the zoo, and I think I still love it as much as Ada and Logan do.  Last time we sought out the gorillas, and I was so moved and affected to see several of them so closely, my kids had to pull me away out of boredom.  It must be admitted, Logan was gunning for the merry go round from the beginning.  He also loved carrying the map, and I was impressed with how good they were at reading it.

I loved this view of the bored bears...

Valet Class

Ada has officially - finally - started ballet class.  She's been ripe for it for a long time now, and I'm so excited that dream is coming true for her.  It is so stinkin cute I can hardly believe it.  She still pronounces it "valet," which I think is funny enough that I rarely correct her.  Logan seems content to look through the window with me, and comment about the different colors of princesses.

As always, click to enlarge.

Park Pics

Recent trips to the park.  The ones of Logan were taken with Ada using my camera!  The expression in the second one of him slays me, who knows what was going on there...

Pics in the Kitchen

I had to capture this random moment with Logan wearing his favorite "dino jammies."  He went through a phase recently that it was critically important to wear these every night - upon arriving home if possible.  He's also slept for a pretty long time in these hilarious slippers.

Now they are both starting a phase where they claim whatever outfit they're wearing is actually jammies, not clothes, so they can continue right to bed in them.
