Summer Movie Preview
Well, I got extremely sidetracked today and decided to do some investigative journalism for my readers. Which to the average lay person could appear to be sitting around watching a bunch of trailers. But of course, you know better!
This winter and spring have been horrible for movies, I've started to wonder if this is still a hobby of mine. Hunger Games was not ruined, and 21 Jump Street was fun, but required low expectations.
And my hopes for the summer are always much more than what actually turns out. But here's my list of potentially exciting stuff. I'm reluctantly optimistic!
- Brave. Pixar. Nuff said. A+.
- Snow White and the Huntsman.
- Prometheus, directed by Ridley Scott. I saw this trailer in the theater and it scared me speechless.
- Safety Not Guaranteed. Time travel is a favorite theme of mine, and this trailer kind of gets me.
- Seeking a Friend For the End of the World. A weirdly funny bookend to Melancholia. And I fall in love with Steve Carrell with every movie he makes!
- Magic Mike. I have to say, this is the one I'm the most excited about. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, who is a genius. I might have some difficulty in getting a date to this movie though, watch the trailer to see what I mean.
- Take This Waltz. This one looks romantic, sad, poignant, heartbreakingly human. Looking at that description, this might be a date challenge as well.
- Savages. Crazy violent action summer movie by Oliver Stone.
- The Dark Knight Rises. Obviously. I'm hoping Joseph Gordon Levitt - sexy - will offset Anne Hathaway - not my taste.
